Aquapaws
As dog owners ourselves, our main concern has always been the distances we’ve had to travel to gain access to dog hydrotherapy. It’s stressful for the animal, conceivably counteracts the benefits of therapy and with up to a 70 mile round trip it’s time consuming and expensive!
With this in mind we’ve opened Aquapaws, a brand new
dog hydrotherapy and dog grooming unit based centrally in East Lydford just off the A37 and convenient for...
Wells | Shepton Mallet | Evercreech | Bruton
Castle Cary | Wincanton | Sherborne | Yeovil | Martock
Langport | Somerton | Street | Glastonbury
Of course Aquapaws would not exist if we didn’t have a real interest in dogs and their welfare and we are keen to provide an outstanding service too!

Hydrotherapy
Just as people swim to improve health and fitness, animals can also experience great benefits from exercising in water. Used in the horse world for many years, dog hydrotherapy is seen as an effective treatment which can be used to aid recovery from surgery or injury, helping to achieve good health and fitness more efficiently.
Your dog’s well-being is our primary concern...
At Aquapaws we aim to return your dog to optimum health, safely and gently, using the most up-to-date equipment – therapy pool or water treadmill – in the most appropriate way to achieve this as quickly and effectively
as possible.

How can dog hydrotherapy help?
After surgery – especially if your dog has suffered
a fracture or cruciate ligament injury
Treating degenerative diseases like osteoarthritis
or hip dysplasia
Improving conditions which cause weakness in your
dog’s limbs and difficulty walking
Helping with back or neck problems, muscle tears,
sprains and strains
Improving general fitness and agility
It can be fun too! Surgery, illness or obesity may
mean that your dog is unable to walk – hydrotherapy
provides a great opportunity for exercise and play...

The treatment process...
All dogs treated at Aquapaws are seen following referral from their own vet. If you think your dog may benefit from hydrotherapy, the first step is to talk to your practice about suitability and ask your vet for a referral. If required, we can help with advice on whether dog hydrotherapy is an appropriate option.
Part of the first session includes assessment of your dog – looking at temperament, taking measurements, outlining a treatment plan, goals etc. – you will need to bring an up-to-date vaccination certificate and a signed and filled in vet referal form if it has not already been sent.
At Aquapaws we keep comprehensive records of all dog hydrotherapy sessions to monitor progress and we keep your vet informed with regular updates...
The number of sessions will vary depending on need, however as a guide we charge:
Water treadmill – £29.00 per session
Therapy pool – £25.00 per session
If your dog is insured contact your provider as this treatment, when prescribed by a vet, may be covered by your policy.
Grooming
Dog owners use our dog grooming services for various reasons... some to make sure their dog looks the best at a show, some to keep their best friend clean in the house, some because they haven’t the facilities to do it themselves.
