Let Me Entertain You
Let Me Entertain You

The search for a new star starts NOW!
Midwest Radio, along with The Western Gazette and the Octagon, is staging the biggest-ever talent contest for Somerset and Dorset.
'Let Me Entertain You' will give anyone the chance to show their talent on the Octagon stage in front of experts from the media and entertainment industry. Acts who win a place in the finals will perform in front of live audiences at the theatre as they vie for the 'Let Me Entertain You' prize. The successful act will be introduced to a theatrical agent, possibly opening the door to professional work.
They will also receive a professional photo shoot and benefit from press and radio exposure to raise their profile and will be invited to give a performance at a future Octagon Theatre production.

Octagon Theatre manager Adam Burgan said: 'It is a prize that money simply cannot buy. Getting an introduction to a theatrical agent is virtually impossible.'
Although organisers have already received considerable interest from would-be entrants, a chance to register is here, with the downloadable entry form below. Alongside Adam Burgan our very own Steve Carpenter will judge the competition alongside Western Gazette promotions executive Antonia Burt. Antonia is a former head of promotions for record company Sony Music. As well as working with the likes of Beyoncé, Destiny’s Child, Aerosmith and Tony Bennett, she has been a performer for 20 years, touring with the Jo Burt experience in the UK, Europe and America.
The competition has sparked huge excitement since it emerged from the Foyer Club group of Octagon Theatre volunteers which will be 30 years old next year.
Adam Burgan said: 'The thought of having some of the success of Britain’s Got Talent or the X-Factor made us realise it was a strong enough competition to have its own event'.'Since then it has just grown. It is going to be the biggest-ever talent search that Somerset has had. It is an event that will bring people together to and discover the talent we have in our area'. 'We don’t know who is going to come forward. I hope we will have a really interesting range. It is open to any act from a dance ensemble to someone playing the spoons, singers, dancers and anything in between'.
For those who don’t want to audition, there will be the chance to see some of the acts in two semi-finals and a final in April, when the dates have been confirmed we will publish them here. The competition will be divided into categories for adults and people aged 16 and under. Twenty acts from each category will be selected for the semi-finals with ten acts from each group going to the final. Auditions start in March.
