£30,000 prize for Somerset author

Somerset-based author Andrew Miller won the Costa Book of the Year award this week for his novel, Pure.

Somerset-based author Andrew Miller has won the Costa Book of the Year award this week for his novel, Pure.

The writer's 6th novel is about the fight to save a crumbling Parisian graveyard in the years leading up to the French revolution.

Miller, who's 51 and lives in a village between Frome and Bruton, was praised by the judges for creating a "vivid rendition" of the era.

His prize is £30,000!
