Library legal bill for county hall

The unsuccessful fight to stick to its controversial libraries policy has reportedly cost Somerset County Council nearly £70,000.
The unsuccessful fight to stick to its controversial libraries policy has reportedly cost Somerset County Council nearly £70,000.
The authority wanted to save £1.35 million by axing funding for 11 branches, reducing opening hours at the rest and shrinking the mobile library fleet.
But campaigners fought the decision and it was overturned at the High Court forcing county hall to reverse the cost-cutting.
The council's been ordered to pay the other side's legal costs but is yet to hear how much that will be.
