Matt Crabb Biography

Matt Crabb on Midwest Radio...

Born in Somerset on 16th August 1991, Matt always dreamed of being on the radio!

At 14, he bombarded his local radio station with demos and requests for work experience placements. They gave in! Matt became part of the promotions team for Ivel FM. After a few months of handing out car stickers and mugs he was offered a placement working on the breakfast show. This lead onto a full time job as the station administrator.

In June 2008 Ivel FM was sold and Midwest Radio was born. At this time he was given the chance to present a weekend of shows.

After that he was promptly given the Sunday Afternoon shift between 12:00 - 16:00. After spending 5 months on this show an offer for the Midwest Radio evening show soon followed. Then In October 2009 Matt moved to the afternoon shift. Matt now works for Midwest Radio's national sales team in London and is back on air from time to time.

We caught up with Matt and asked him a few questions...

Life at Midwest...

What's the best thing about working at Midwest? It's so much fun! The team are just brilliant and we have a real laugh.

Who's the biggest character? Steve. Without a doubt. Not only on air but off air. I've had to deal with a lot of tantrums! We normally just end up laughing about things! He's a legend.

If someone reading this has never listened to the show, why should they? It's the best show for local news and travel. All thrown in with celeb gossip and random news from the morning. And of course the best competitions!

Music...

Most listened to track on your MP3 player? At the moment I'm really into a group called Fenech-Soler. If you have checked them out they are amazing! But my music taste changes soo much!

Most embarrassing track on your MP3 player? I see them as more guilty pleasures but if I had to name one it would have to be something from Justin Bieber.

What's your karaoke track of choice? After Glee it has to be Journey - Don't Stop Believing. But I need my best mate Jess to play the female part!

First single you bought? Probably something from S Club 7. Don't judge!

Time to get personal...

What makes you laugh? People tripping up in the street. Genius. That and random nights out with my friends

What's the best piece of advice you've been given? Keep your enemies close

How would your mates describe you in 3 words? Sweet, Fun and Random

Who do you call when you get good news? My mum or my partner.

Life in Somerset & Dorset...

What's your favourite Somerset & Dorset place? In the summer it has to be one of our amazing beaches. You can't beat a BBQ and hanging out with mates at the beach.

Favourite Restaurant in Somerset & Dorset? Probably The Viceroy. LOVE Indian food!

Favourite place to go shopping? If I get the chance London but normally it's Bristol or Yeovil

Tell us a little known fact about these glorious counties of ours... There are 32 farms in Somerset devoted specifically to the production of cider. Happy days!
