Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival 2011

Midwest Radio is supporting this year's Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival. Ray will be reporting from the Festival on Saturday Morning between 9 and mid-day.

There's so much more than just cheese!  With food galore, crafts, beer, cider, and entertainments too, this year’s festival, on September 10th and 11th 2011, promises to be another great event. It will be the 12th Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival. Of course there is cheese, and lots of it at the festival, but the array of food and other stalls has to be seen to be believed.

The food tent gets bigger every year and this year over 60 producers are expected to attend, plying the ware they lovingly create. Nearly all are relatively local, from Dorset and some neighbouring counties. There will be yoghurt, ice cream, meat of every description, bread, olives, herbs and much more.  Soft cheeses, hard cheeses, flavoured cheeses and some very unusual cheeses will be available.

Other attractions include a marvellous selection of craft stalls, again representing the best in local production, from stained glass to jewellery, and ceramics to wooden and textile items. Entertainment is in the form of live music, Morris dancing, a Punch and Judy show, circus skills and roundabout and swing-boats for children.
